Appearance & origins

Moldavite is a translucent green crystal with a unique and irregular surface texture that resembles molten glass. Its color ranges from olive green to deep forest green, and it often has intricate, etched patterns or bubbles within, caused by its rapid cooling process after formation.

Moldavite is primarily found in the Czech Republic, specifically in the Bohemian and Moravian regions. It is a type of tektite formed from the impact of a meteorite that struck the Earth approximately 15 million years ago in the Ries Crater in Germany.

Moldavite has been used since prehistoric times as a talisman and amulet. Ancient cultures believed it had protective and spiritual properties, often carving it into tools or wearing it as jewelry to ward off evil and connect with higher powers.

Safety

Warnings: Moldavite poses no toxicity concerns but is fragile and can chip or break easily. Avoid using Moldavite in elixirs, especially directly in water.

Care: Store Moldavite separately from harder stones to prevent scratching. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat or sunlight, as this can fade its color.
