Appearance & origins

Angelite is a soft and calming crystal with a pale blue or bluish-gray hue, often opaque with a smooth, velvety texture. It may sometimes display white streaks or patches, giving it a cloud-like appearance. Its surface often has a matte finish, though it can be polished to a subtle shine.

Angelite is commonly found in Peru, as well as other locations such as Germany, Poland, and Mexico. It is formed from the mineral gypsum that has undergone compression over millions of years.

Folklore & history

Angelite is said to have been discovered in Peru during the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, a time believed to mark a spiritual awakening on Earth. Its energy is often linked to angelic realms and divine communication.

While Angelite itself is a relatively recent crystal in terms of discovery, its parent mineral, gypsum, has been used in ancient cultures for carving sacred objects and talismans. The soothing qualities of Angelite align with historical uses of blue stones for calming and spiritual purposes.

Safety

Warnings: Angelite is not safe for contact with water, as it can dissolve. Do not use it in crystal elixirs or drinking water.

Care: Store Angelite in a dry and safe location to prevent scratches or exposure to moisture. Handle it gently, as it is a relatively soft stone with a Mohs hardness of 3.5.
